We approach the problem of tinnitus collectively and intensely under self-imposed positive pressure to not just seek but to enforce a solution. To this end, we will focus on the below.

Tinnitus Quest Mission

We abide by these guiding principles.

EXPLORATION & PERSISTENCE

Our approach to research will be one of “high risk, high gain.” Like explorers, we will take risks, explore unknown territory, and follow clues in the landscape; whereas traditional agencies come afterwards with a more systematic approach once the territory is described. In science we call this ‘explorative’ versus ‘solidifying’ science.

Furthermore, the most significant discoveries in world history have been characterized by countless setbacks, which brought progress in knowledge, in turn achieving further progress. We will openly communicate crucial setbacks and transparently publish them along with the resulting new insights that will drive future progress.

TRANSPARENCY

All our research projects will report on a quarterly basis about their activities. This will allow tinnitus sufferers to follow the research as it unfolds.

HEALTHY COMPETITION

In addition to directly funding research projects, we will develop a competition mode that provides researchers and their projects with additional financial incentives. Projects that have made a significant contribution to the progress of knowledge will be rewarded. We will also define an ultimate “Silence Goal” that stands as a common objective over our endeavor.

DIALOGUE & DEBATE

Tinnitus Quest will host summit meetings at least twice a year, serving as an idea hub for research elites and the brightest of young researchers. The aim is to collectively discuss, develop, and promptly test potential therapies. Every idea will be taken seriously, no matter how unconventional. These conferences will be meticulously documented for public dissemination.

PATIENT-DRIVEN

The patient needs to be an integral part of the research team by providing ideas, participating in research, and advising. This requires an enhanced willingness to communicate on the part of the researchers, to which this group will collectively commit. To facilitate interaction, we will utilize the entire spectrum of modern communication. The patient will become part of the solution.

CROWDFUNDED

Big causes need big support and, especially at the start, they require big supporters. We are looking for brave individuals ready to take the fate of tinnitus sufferers in their hands and ignite the spark. By setting up an effective research and communications platform, we will then engage the public, patients, institutions – and garner further funding.
